It was early in the morning, the sun was rising and there was a coolness to the soft breeze. As Lauren sat in Rachel’s chair, there was a calmness that came over the entire room. It was Lauren’s wedding day, a day she had been waiting for. The day she was going to marry the man of her dreams…not once, but twice.
By now the mehndi has been designed and the celebration from last night’s Sangeet has come to an end. In their separate rooms, Lauren and Shami get ready with family and friends surrounding them. Each member playing their part in the preparation for them to see each other for the first time as Bride and Groom.
As the morning progresses on, the Groom’s side fills the drive of the Ritz Carlton, Sarasota with high energy to bring Shami to their Sikh Ceremony. Everyone is dancing in celebration to the loud beats as Shami dismounts his horse and joins in. Once all the Welcome Ceremony traditions had been completed, it was time for Lauren to walk down the aisle to meet her Groom where they would become husband and wife. One down, one to go.
Once the Sikh Ceremony was complete, it was time to celebrate Lauren’s traditional Christian Ceremony at the Powel Crosley Estate. Upon arriving to the venue, the grounds took on Lauren and Shami’s vision of white and green flowers, lanterns, candles, silky linens, Chiavari chairs as one incredible creative team worked diligently to bring it to life. It’s getting close to time for Lauren and Shami to unite once more as husband and wife.
After one amazing First Look session and then, very quickly, squeezing in as many wedding party and family formals as we could, we managed to start their Christian Ceremony on time. Good thing too because the plan was to quickly steal away Lauren and Shami immediately after the ceremony to head to the water for sunset photos. These images were so important to Lauren and Shami and I wasn’t going to let anything stop us from getting the perfect shot. With the sun setting as the ceremony concluded, Lauren and Shami joyfully walked up the aisle and quickly followed me down to the water. The sky was filled with blue, pink, orange and yellow and didn’t completely set before I had the exact image I wanted to give them.
Just as it had all day, the evening continued flawlessly into the reception. Lauren and Shami’s first dance still gives me chills after seeing all of their guests gazing in awe of the new couple. Shortly after, it was time for the speeches. Every speech was heart felt, funny and spoken with love…but Lauren’s father made me burst out in tears (behind the camera of course). You see, as any proud father would, he begins by telling stories of Lauren’s childhood…letting us into his world with the memories he hold so dear. He proved to everyone with stories of how smart, strong, loving, kind and patient his daughter is…he wanted to ensure Shami knew the kind of woman he was marrying. Never in my 12 year career had I felt so much love. I tip my hat to you sir…best Father of the Bride speech ever.
Oh my friends, it doesn’t end there. After the formal dances were had and the glasses were raised, there was one more epic moment of this event. BOOM, BOOM, BOOM! There was no better way to open up the dance floor than with a fireworks show! This brought incredible energy to begin a night filled with dancing, laughter and a whole lot of love.
Lauren and Shami,
I’m beyond words. You both have been incredible to know and capture. You brought me on such a wonderful journey and I am forever indebted to you. Thank you for all of your trust and for the freedom you gave me to capture some of my now all time favorite images. I’m excited for you both and your future as I know it will be as bright as your hearts.
TO ONE INCREDIBLE CREATIVE TEAM….THANK YOU! This incredible event wouldn’t have happened as perfectly as it did without your talent and passion.
