Many fusion weddings consist of outfit changes, however, typically once your in one outfit…you stay in it for a while before changing. Sometimes this can lead to late night changes and initial portraits are left in the dark. Mona was determined to have portraits taken in both reception outfits during the day and outside. To accomplish multiple portrait sessions, in one day…all before the sun goes down requires a day full of wardrobe changes. Let me explain.
Mona had two extravagant dresses to appear in for her reception. One a traditional white American gown, the other a traditional Muslim gown. Okay, so follow me for a moment. Mona would be introduced into the reception in her Muslim gown and wear through speeches. During dinner, she would change into the white American gown to finish out the evening. Since Mona would be walking into the reception in her Muslim gown, this meant that we would start her first look, bridal portraits and wedding party portraits in her American white gown. Then second she changed into her Muslim gown and we did another first look, followed by bridal portraits. All the while, it was super important for Mona to have all portraits taken outside in natural light (seriously love her for this!). But low and behold, it was June…in Florida…and we all know what that means. Yep. It rained allllllll day. All day. EXCEPT when we needed it to stop for portraits. Perfect timing right?!?!? Could not be more excited right!? Wait…it rained all day, so you know what that means? YEP. Everything was soaking wet. The grass was tall so there was no stepping off the pavements. That meant that my two favorite portrait spots at Innisbrook were out of the question. (trust me, when you see her dress, you’ll know why!) Not to mention, we were very quickly running out of time…so no real time to leave the area. Here’s where I’m back to being so grateful for everything I have learned about photography and taking great photographs. We were able to use the parking lots. YEP! We shot both first looks, wedding party portraits and two rounds of bridal portraits in a parking lot, that look completely different and I personally think are gorgeous. THIS my friends, is why you hire a professional photographer. Between time crunches, weather issues and high expectations of beautiful outdoor portraits we still got it all done and on time thanks to a creative team that works like a dream together.
Mona & Hanan,
Thank you. Thank you so, so, so much for trusting me. I know there were probably times where it seemed I had two heads, but nonetheless, you believed and rocked it like you knew I wasn’t crazy. The proof is in the sweet moments full of bliss in your images. Believe me when I tell you that it didn’t matter what our background was. Your images were going to be beautiful just because of the love you two share.
I could literally go on and on about what all transpired this day, but that would leave you with a novel and I’m sure you are ready to get to the photos! Oh, I threw in some behind the scenes action to see what it took to get it all done!
